Head of Accounting & Taxation (m/f/d)
Location: Pune, India — On-site, ASAP
On behalf of our client, a German manufacturing company and one of the leading global companies in its segment – we are seeking an experienced Head of Accounting & Taxation for their Indian subsidiary.
This is a leadership role with end-to-end responsibility for accounting, taxation, statutory reporting, compliance, and internal controls. Acting as a trusted partner to local management and global headquarters, the position plays a pivotal role in safeguarding financial integrity, ensuring regulatory compliance and sustainable business growth.
The role reports directly to the Managing Director India, with a functional reporting line to the Group CFO at headquarters in Germany.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all accounting operations in compliance with Ind AS, Indian statutory requirements, and company policies.
- Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of statutory financial statements, management reports, and other reporting requirements.
- Manage all tax-related matters, including GST, income tax, tax compliance, filings, assessments, and coordination with external advisors and authorities.
- Maintain and optimize internal controls and ensure adherence to applicable statutory, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements.
- Conduct financial reviews, variance analysis, balance sheet reviews, and KPI monitoring to ensure accounting accuracy, reporting quality, and sound business decision-making.
- Prepared and closely monitor overall company’s cash flow to ensure optimal utilization of funds.
- Review overall profit and loss statement / MIS every month to ensure profit margins are aligned with overall target.
- Drive process optimization, cost control, and operational efficiency initiatives
- Lead, develop, and motivate the local accounting team (currently 3 FTE).
- Promote a culture of integrity, transparency, accountability, and ethical business conduct.
Your Profile
- Professional qualification as a Chartered Accountant (CA) is mandatory.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Current or recent experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, with at least 6 years in this field.
- Experience working in multinational companies (MNCs) and handling cross-border transactions.
- Strong hands-on experience in financial closing, payroll management, accounting, taxation, and controlling, with sound knowledge of TDS and GST compliance.
- Have a sound knowledge of IFRS and IndAS to ensure financial statements are adhered with relevant standards.
- Experience in implementing overall governance and controls across all core business and support functions in an organisation.
- Led initiatives for cost saving activities to contribute towards positive profit margins.
- Solid knowledge of Infor M3 or comparable ERP systems.
- Experience with Power BI or any data analytics tool or similar business intelligence tools is strongly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong commitment to compliance, internal controls, and ethical business practices.
- Fluent business English is required.
